Declaration of Faction War

Rules of Engagement / Declaration of Faction War

πŸ“Œ 2025 - If any two factions agree, then the zone can be disabled. Only a registered faction can defeat another registered faction. If a bandit group captures or destroys the faction fox of a faction, then that faction is allowed to continue to exist if they purchase another fox or pay the bandits to recover their own. It is irrelevant if the zone is up or down, or if there has been an official declaration of war. Covert operations are permitted. Only active registered factions, having a Faction Fox, may defeat another Registered Faction.

This information below has been revised to reflect Magnum 2025 updated policy. For example, a formal declaration of war is now only a formality and is irrelevant in regards to the defeat or survival of a faction's status.

This page has been updated to recognize the following: We no longer have individual protection zones. There is currently a map wide anti-raid system which prevents specific structures and barricades from being destroyed.

Global anti-raid can be turned off when two Faction Fox holders agree to start a war. That can be a war between the two, or against a third party. Details coming soon...

πŸ“Œ Because building structures and barricades are protected by a map wide zone the faction's own base can not be destroyed unless formal war is declared

To discourage faction building accomplishments from being raided and destroyed when the faction members are away from the server, a special anti-raid plugin is used on MagnumSRP. Player purchased raid permits are not able to be used against structures.

πŸ“Œ Faction Region Protection is DISABLED in the event of a qualifying Declaration of War

To declare war on a faction and have it recognized as official the following requirements must be met.

1. Two registered factions must agree to have the raid protection disabled.

2. The two factions that engage in the agreement may be at war with each other, or working together against a 3rd party.

3. If the target faction members leave the server during combat then they are considered to be guilty of combat logging and their protection will remain disabled.

4. Moderators are not allowed to use moderator level commands and tools to equip and supply any combatants during a faction war.

5. No helper is allowed to be in "admin mode" during a faction war.

6. Offline raiding is discouraged, however, will not be policed by the helper staff. Your faction is best served by having enough members that one person is available to check on things from time to time. This is why small factions tend to perish easily.

πŸ“Œ Only a registered faction can declare victory over another faction.

πŸ“Œ To start a war, which globally deactivates map wide Anti-Raid protection, two Faction Fox holders must equip the Faction Fox and use the /war command to declare war.

To Summarize the key points:

πŸ“Œ Unregistered players can not simply call themselves bandits and declare war on a faction by themselves.

give`em a brake

πŸ“Œ Faction war can not commence eternally as players have lives, jobs, school, and bedtime. (3 - 6 hour recommendation)

πŸ“Œ Combat logging will not be tolerated and is empirically provable (your denial will be easily disproved by simple evidence)

The 3 - 6 Hour Faction War Recommendation

A faction war may continue past the 6 hour recommendation. However, both sides must agree to continue. If players from the defending faction are exhausted and have to leave the server for life obligations then the war is not necessarily over, it is merely postponed. The two parties must simply agree on the time to continue the war. If the two parties can not agree on a time, then the time and date for continuation will be appointed by a server moderator. If the attacking party wishes to end the war without a clear victory by either side then the war is concluded. The defending Faction may not declare the war over. The defending faction can either surrender at the terms of the attacker or defend until completely defeated if the attacking party wishes to continue the war during rescheduled intervals.

πŸ“Œ if YOU are being ATTACKED you can not simply QUIT or Declare Peace. You either FIGHT, SURRENDER, or eventually FALL.

There are some very important exceptions to understand, or maybe more precisely said, some clarification that should be made...

πŸ“Œ Anyone can attack a Faction for Any Reason at Any Time. However, the ZONE PROTECTION of the faction base will REMAIN ENABLED unless the Official Declaration of Faction War conditions are met and a helper with the /zone command is available.

πŸ“Œ Players declaring themselves as bandits may, at their own discretion, choose only to use the Bandit Kit. However, there is no rule prohibiting players from declaring themselves a bandit and using weapons and gear outside of that which is in the bandit kit. Please do not expect bandits to only use bandit kit gear. We can not stop a player from saying he is a bandit and then using his CheyTac M200 Intervention.

Attention Raiders and Spoilers

So you may feel frustrated that you, as an individual, non-registered player are unable to easily raid a Registered Faction Base. However, you must understand that attacking a Faction is not a function of PvP, RP, or survival. These factions exist to combat one another and your own personal desire to raid and harass them does not entitle you to demand their ZONE protection be disabled. If you wish to raid a registered faction then join a faction or register one yourself.

Offline Raiding

As a raider or spoiler you will find a number of outposts or bases and you can purchase and use a raid permit (explosives permit). You are discouraged from offline raiding. Although it is not a rule violation, you will find that engaging in continued offline raiding has other consequences which can make your existence on MagnumSRP ultimately less comfortable. You will find it more satisfying to engage in combat with other players looking for PvP action.

Griefing

The term "griefing" describes an act of placing barricades or something in roadways, or blocking city buildings and or including any such construction related activity with intent to interfere with other player RP activity. This is not permitted on MagnumSRP. If you engage in such activity you will face consequences as this is a rule violation.

It is not considered "griefing" when said activity is deployed against a military installation as the purpose for such activity can not be proven as RP interference or a military tactic. Military operations against an opponent might include the use of barricades to frustrate the movement of troops or equipment in and out of a base. It is an annoying tactic, however, easily prevented by the use of claim flags. It is the faction installation's responsibility to deploy claim flags to discourage or prevent this type of nuisance. Simply put, if it is against a town, the roads, or other RP implements it is griefing, if it is against a military installation then it is less easily defined and therefore not enforceable by staff. Use common sense and consideration.

Ghosting

On some faction servers a faction survives a long time by a tactic where all members simply agree to avoid the server for days at a time and therefore exploit rules against offline raiding to ensure the survival of their faction in name. This makes for an inactive server with perpetual dead factions that linger endlessly. Although it is not encouraged, we do not enforce rules against offline raiding. If your faction group seeks survival by ghosting the server, think again. Your base will likely get chipped away over time as raiders can afford raid permits until your base is defenseless. It is best to have enough members that someone is around to check on things from time to time. Helpers will not seek restitution from raiders even if you were offline.

On a final note you must understand that even though you might meet all of the requirements to declare a faction war as a registered member of MagnumSRP, the moderators and staff of MagnumSRP also have real life obligations and may not be available on a specific day or time to toggle the ZONE protection off and on. If you feel that you meet the requirements but your declaration of war was not recognized, then consider trying again at another day and time. MagnumSRP staff will do our best to accommodate your desires but there is no guarantee given or otherwise implied that your declaration of war request will be immediately honored.

All of the regular resources and gameplay dynamics will likely be available even if you can not start an official faction war at the moment you desire.

We are actively working on a program that will allow faction leaders to control their zones and accommodate mutually agreed war without the need for a moderator to deactivate zone protection. Please help support our efforts. Magnum runs many programs and mods that are customize build just for MagnumSRP by the MagnumSRP staff.
