Factions are military forces, such as armies or sometimes just bands of mercenaries. Any player can start or join a faction with any number of other players. To be a faction simply declare yourself one.
Registered Factions are those that have territory in the form of a country or kingdom, a government, and are officially recognized on the player territory maps. They are the power players with an established base and enough soldiers to hold their own. Faction registration is not a requirement of MagnumSRP, however, has a number of benefits.

A registered faction has one or more combat kits available from the server for their troops. The kits typically contain a uniform, a couple weapons, and necessary supplies for combat and survival. They also have a protected zone around a portion of their base to prevent offline raiding.
